The Casa Caminho do Corcovado is located in the Cosme Velho neighborhood in south zone of the city of Rio de Janeiro, at the foot of the Corcovado Mountain, occupying the upper valley of the Rio Carioca. Is here that is located the wonderful Christ the Redeemer, one of the most interesting tourist addresses in Rio de Janeiro.
Formerly known as “water Railways”, it has as its main street Rua Cosme Velho, which is a continuation of Rua das Laranjeiras. The neighborhood’s population is middle class and upper middle class and still keeps the charm of neighborhoods marked by the past. population is middle class and upper middle class and still keeps the charm of neighborhoods marked by the past. It was (and still is) the home of artists, entrepreneurs, writers and composers such as the Roberto Marinho family, Machado de Assis, Manuel Bandeira, Euclides da Cunha, Austregésilo de Athayde, Alceu Amoroso Lima, Cecilia Meireles, Jorge Mautner and many others.
The neighborhood has a clear inclination for tourism due to its antiquity, tradition and we also have the many historical buildings. Historical charm, chic in an era that exists only in our dreams.
